“Now all my lies are proved untrue

And I must face the men I slew.

What tale shall serve me here among

Mine angry and defrauded young?”

(Epitaphs of War, Rudyard Kipling, 1865-1936.)

When it comes to bending the truth politicians must come out on top. This is especially true of the present incumbents of the HoC. Their friends in the media prefer to call it spin as it has a better ring to it. No one likes a liar but spin? Spin is a whole different ball game. perfected in The USA under the guise of “plausible deniability”.

Spin can be simple, lets start with ‘adspin’, this is where a statement is made in order to garner trust from an unsuspecting Electorate and when said statement proves inaccurate, ‘spin’ is deployed. Take for example, Barak Obama when he was vying for his first term in Office. He stated that he would close Guantanamo Bay during his first year but, as we all know, five years down the line it is still thriving.

His ‘spin-doctors’ put out a statement which blamed Congress for blocking Obama’s attempts to close Gitmo, the US euphemism for Guantanamo. The real truth was/is that Obama never wanted to close ‘Gitmo’  but to re-locate it to the Thomson Correctional Center, Illinois.

To quote Anthony Romero, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union, (ACLU):

“The creation of a ‘Gitmo North‘ in Illinois is hardly a meaningful step forward. Shutting down Guantanamo will be nothing more than a symbolic gesture if we continue its lawless policies onshore.

“Alarmingly, all indications are that the administration plans to continue its predecessor’s policy of indefinite detention without charge or trial for some detainees, with only a change of location. Such a policy is completely at odds with our democratic commitment to due process and human rights whether it’s occurring in Cuba or in Illinois. In fact, while the Obama administration inherited the Guantánamo debacle, this current move is its own affirmative adoption of those policies. It is unimaginable that the Obama administration is using the same justification as the Bush administration used to undercut centuries of legal jurisprudence and the principle of innocent until proven guilty and the right to confront one’s accusers.”

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, our own, home-grown politicians are no less adept in the art of lying; sorry, “spin”.

Blair and his ‘New Labour’ cronies were totally addicted to it. The obvious and, perhaps the most damning is the assertion that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, (WMD’s). A total and misleading fabrication because, as the Chilcot Inquiry discovered, British Intelligence had revealed to Blair that Iraq had, at most, only a trivial amount of weapons of mass destruction. More worryingly, he was told that Libya posed a far greater threat.

After his sojourn to see George Bush in America during April 2002 he, (Blair) ordered the production of dossiers to find the intelligence that he needed to justify the UK joining the Americans in a war against Saddam Hussein. First came the “September Dossier”, which laid out why we should Take the threat from Iraq seriously. The real “spin”  in this was Blair’s assertion that Iraq could ready and fire WMD’s in 45 minutes. Something the Media and especially the tabloids used to great effect.

The next piece of “spin”,  was the Iraq Dossier of February 2003. Astoundingly, most of this dossier was found to have been plagiarised  from unattributed sources. The notable one being, Ibrahim al-Marashi, a graduate student. His article entitled, ‘Iraq’s Security &Intelligence Network: A Guide & Analysis’,  which was published in September 2002 was copied almost verbatim with just a few alterations to strengthen the case for war.

Come forward a few years and we have our old favourite, ‘Call Me Dave’,  David Cameron. He, of course gave the Nation a ‘cast-iron’ guarantee that should we vote for him in the 2010 General Election he would give us an in/out referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.

A whopping lie which most of you fell for.

A few more ‘porkies’ from our Dave; ‘reducing the strength of the Armed Services will not diminish our ability to carry out our military obligations abroad or to protect our shores or those of our Dominions’.  Taking a cue from our politicians, you will notice that I have used the correct words but they are not necessarily in the correct order.

After renegotiating Britain’s terms with the EU I will hold a straightforward in/out referendum in 2017’  Apart from being a lie, there are other things glaringly wrong with that bit of spin.

  1. He won’t be able to renegotiate.
  2. He will lose the next General Election in 2015.
  3. If 1 & 2 are wrong, he will renege on a referendum, ether that or keep holding them until he gets the result he and his EU paymasters want.

None of the above is new to us, so why do we fall for it? Why do we allow these nere-do-wells to mislead us time and time again? It really does have to stop, the lies coming out of the Palace of Westminster is costing lives. People are volunteering to go to their deaths in far distant lands on the strength of a lie. Unfortunately it is not just Service men and women who are dying. Remember Dr Kelly?

Whether you believe the conspiracists or not, the fact is, poor man died because of a pack of lies.

Fortunately there is a groundswell of resentment in this country at the moment. I’m not referring to the thuggish idiots of the BNP & EDL, I’m talking about the honest, hard-working people up and down the country who are sick to the back teeth with all of the lies. The problem here is that they are so fed up with corrupt politicians that they are not voting anymore.

Speak out against the liars and you are called ‘extremist’, ‘racist‘ or ‘homophobic’. They, the liars,  have never learned that the one ‘truth’ about the ‘truth‘ is that you do not have to tell another truth to cover it up.

Don’t just sit in front of the TV or radio when these Politico’s are giving out serious fact and figures which will dramatically change your life, shouting, “LIAR! LIAR! LIAR! Pick up your pen or laptop, tablet, or iPad and write to them. Let them know that you do not believe their lies.

And, please vote. Vote for common sense because common sense is king!

My friends have been asking me of late to stand for UKIP, saying that they would vote for me. My Business Partner has been following the same line, but you know what, I could never do that because I’m too honest, I put my views right out there. I’m outspoken, I’m opinionated, I’m anything but boring, but I’ll upset people because I can’t be bothered being politically correct, life is far too short for that.

Who wants to hear more boring rhetoric from David Cameron, or most of the political class of that ilk? They gesticulate but get nothing done. Look at Gove, he appears occassionally in the Telegraph, with a bit of magic PR gesticulation, when in reality, his curriculum changes are damaging, his department is falling apart, and communication between LEAs has become non-existent. They are both failing their Country enormously.

But where will they go when, quite inevitably now, UKIP or no UKIP, they lose the next election by a Country mile? They’ll go to work, in some capacity, for the EU, and there you have the answer. It’s not about the Country, it’s about their careers.

Only a few weeks ago, I watched incredulously wide eyed and open mouthed at IDS stating live on Question TIme that he could stop benefits tourism. No he can’t, he obviously can’t, but he told people what they wanted to hear, lots of people that can’t be bothered researching what he says. The vast majority don’t know that our membership forbids what he is proclaiming he is trying to do, nor will they research it. They will take us to Court and they will win, whether he ‘goes in person’ (woooo scary, more PR gesticulation!), or not.

Whilst the gesticulation carries on, and diversion tactics are employed, we will fall over into 1st Jan 2014, when this Country will become a victim to the largest economic and sub-cultural war ever waged on it from the continent.
